It’s been a nice break from pottery for the last month or so. Classes started up again this past Tuesday where the theme for the evening was small bottles. Made a few nice ones, smashed one on the wheel and turned one into a very interesting bowl. It sure was mice getting my hand back on some mud.
Then on Thursday, I helped out with the empty bowls. We are 200 short for our event coming up in October. All hands on clay!!! I spun up 9 nice bowls, with a few having some interesting shapes to them. And by interesting, I mean a little cock-eyed.
And finally, as I start this new semester/session of pottery classes, I once again have committed to keeping track of my creations so I can remember firing, glazes, etc. So far, I’m 0-5. But I can recover when I trim those beautiful bottles
I continue to add items to the store for purchase. Take some time and browse through to see if anything interests you for yourself or as a gift.
Back in 2013 I was in an epic battle with rectal cancer. We were lucky enough to find the Cancer Community Center in Phoenix which offered classes and seminars to help the dancer battlers enhance their life. One of those classes was a ceramics class which allowed us to created beautiful art out of slab clay. Me and the wife made it a priority to attend each of these classes where we made a number of clay projects.
After my battle, I wanted to continue ceramics work and found a class in wheel throwing at the Tempe Center for the Arts. IT was quite a battle starting out, trying to learn how to make pottery on the wheel. I worked hard and was able to make a nice collection of wonky pieces which we enjoyed. I then continued to sign up and continue to hone my skills for the next 7 years. Which brings us to today.
As it turns out I got pretty good at it and now have a huge collection of pottery waiting in my garage and all over my home that I would like to sell. I will be slowly adding new and new to here some of my nicest work for your purchase consideration.
